A shocking case has come to light from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a newly married woman has filed a police complaint against her husband and in-laws. She has accused them of severe physical and mental harassment, dowry demands, and even causing her miscarriage. The wife claims that her husband wanted her to look like Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi and tortured her when she could not meet his expectations.
Husband forced wife to exercise and denied her food
According to the woman’s complaint, her husband, who works as a government physical education teacher, forced her to exercise for nearly three hours every day. If she became tired or unwell, he would punish her by not giving her food for days. She alleged that her husband constantly compared her to Nora Fatehi and taunted her, saying that his life was ruined because he had not married someone like the actress.
The wife also said that her husband used to watch objectionable pictures and videos of other women on social media. When she objected, he assaulted her physically and silenced her. She accused him of mentally torturing her to change her looks and lifestyle to match the Bollywood actress, something that created immense stress and suffering for her.
The complaint further stated that her in-laws also joined in the harassment. Her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law allegedly abused her, insulted her, and repeatedly demanded dowry from her family. She said that she was forced to bring items such as clothes, jewellery, and an oven from her parental home. Despite her objections, the pressure and abuse continued.
Dowry demands and miscarriage after harassment
The woman was married in March 2025 in Ghaziabad with great celebration. Her family reportedly spent nearly Rs 76 lakh on the marriage, which included gold jewellery, cash worth Rs 10 lakh, and a Mahindra Scorpio SUV valued at Rs 24 lakh. However, even after such an expensive wedding, her in-laws allegedly continued to demand more wealth, including land, cash, and costly goods.
The wife stated that a few months after marriage, she became pregnant. But instead of receiving care, she was allegedly given food by her in-laws that was harmful to her health. She also claimed she was subjected to continuous mental and physical abuse. In July 2025, she suffered from excessive bleeding and severe pain. Doctors at the hospital informed her that she had suffered a miscarriage, and the cause was linked to stress, harassment, and the unhealthy dietary practices she was forced to follow.
After her miscarriage, the woman went to her maternal home. She alleged that her husband, along with his mother and sister, insulted her and her family on video calls and even threatened to divorce her. She also said that when she later returned to her in-laws’ house on July 26 with her parents, she was not allowed to enter. The family allegedly refused to return the jewellery given to her by her parents during festivals.
The woman has made serious allegations of dowry harassment, domestic violence, forced abortion, blackmail, and threats against her husband and in-laws. She said that the abuse was both mental and physical and that her life had been made miserable.

Police action begins
In her complaint, she has asked the authorities to take strict action against her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law. She accused them of ruining her married life and causing her immense suffering. At present, the Ghaziabad police have registered a case based on her complaint. An investigation has begun, and officials are looking into all the allegations.
The case has sparked discussions about the persistence of dowry harassment and the growing instances of domestic violence in modern society. Even though the marriage was conducted with heavy expenses, the woman claims that greed and abuse from her in-laws continued. Her statements also highlight the extreme and unrealistic expectations placed on women, as her husband allegedly tried to force her to change her appearance and lifestyle to resemble a popular actress.
Such cases underline the urgent need for stronger action against domestic violence and dowry harassment. While the police have started their probe, the victim has demanded strict punishment for her husband and his family. The outcome of the investigation will determine what action is taken next.
